Give Yourself A Break From Always Being Strong
Are you tired of feeling like you always have to be strong?
You want a break. Everytime you turn around there is something new you have to deal with.
Next thing you know, you’re upset and frustrated, and it comes out as anger. But anger and attitudes don’t fix anything.
Ask yourself, when was the last time my anger made my life easier?
Anger is not strength. It's fear. Exhausting, draining, energy sucking fear that keeps you repeating the same cycle.
If you’re ready to get out of that same ole loop, read this poem I wrote. It’s called “Strong Woman.”
I thought I was strong.
Going off when I felt disrespected.
Masking pain when I thought I was enduring it.
I thought I was a fighter, and in some ways I was.
It’s clear to me now that I was scared, and I made decisions based in fear.
Decisions that without a doubt caused me more misery.
I’m thankful God didn’t let me drown.
I now know what a fighter is.
What courage is.
Who I am.
A true fighter doesn’t need a mean face, a harsh voice or disrespectful words.
A true fighter is even-tempered and walks in peace.
She depends on the ultimate source of power, not her own.
She’s not swept up in chaos, but she’s prepared for it.
She stands in stillness, and she’s precise.
Her strength is unmatchable, for it’s beyond anything this world can offer.
Her happiness is not determined by what’s happening.
The love she is, strengthens her agility.
She’s wise, not emotional.
She’s aware of her presence.
