EDITOR'S LETTER

Truly enjoying life is learning to be comfortable with uncertainty, letting go of seeking validation from other people, and embracing the present moment no matter how it shows up. These are lessons I’m continuously learning. Launching this magazine challenges me in these ways all the time. 

 

As I was putting together the November issue, many things did not go as planned. Equipment failed, products didn’t arrive on time, there were wardrobe malfunctions in the middle of shoots. Honestly, I found myself overwhelmed a few times. The lesson I’m learning is to do what I can and accept what is.

This issue highlights four amazing products! I couldn’t be more excited to present them to you. From jewelry designers to handbag designers, these businesses understand the need for a new perspective in the fashion industry.

 

Mateo New York is changing the way we see pearls, Zuri Perle mixes mediums in a way that makes a lasting statement, 3rd Eye View creates eyewear that can handle every season and Marcellas Reynolds recognizes the beauty and impact of black women in the fashion industry in his new book. 

 

You may notice a new element to the magazine. A cohesive color palette. This idea comes from my approach to my runway shows-- from back when I was a fashion designer. I wanted that same approach to this magazine to help achieve a more visually flow.

 

Victoria Reed magazine is committed to highlighting products from amazing overlooked black owned businesses so they feel seen.
