EDITOR'S LETTER

The lack of awareness and exposure for black-owned businesses is what inspired the creation of Victoria Reed, an online fashion and lifestyle magazine that highlights products from black-owned businesses. As the leaves are changing colors, and the heat is simmering down, I’m excited to be launching this magazine, and bring something new in with the fall season.
As I began to plan this magazine, I was equal parts enthusiastic and uncertain. I actually spent a nice amount of time learning to be comfortable with the uncertainties. I wondered
whether the vision in my head would transform
into reality. I found hope as I watched the dots

begin to connect. My time as a fashion designer, my Communication degree, my desire to experience life beyond the surface. Somehow, these things that I once compartmentalized merged together to become this magazine. 

 

Victoria Reed is a reliable resource to find out about amazing black owned businesses within the fashion and lifestyle industry. The first issue and every issue to follow will highlight black owned businesses, so that we can become more aware of them. The creativity and culture infused in these products makes purchasing from these companies just feel right. From the hand-painted statement earrings (featured on the cover) to the cards that remind us of our childhood, these products and businesses are worth knowing. 

 

Help bring exposure to these black owned businesses and Victoria Reed by using word-of-mouth (talk about it) one of the most powerful ways to get new things to catch on. Share, follow, like, comment do it all!
